Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
Baking Meatballs
- Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
Assembly
- In a saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat. Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking dish.
- Fill each roll with meatballs and sauce, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Make sure to not overmix the meatball mixture to keep them tender. You can add different spices or herbs like Italian seasoning for extra flavor. If you prefer, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for later.
