  • 1 cup sour cream Adds creaminess to the dish.
  • 1 large onion, caramelized Gives a sweeter flavor when caramelized.
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions For topping, adds crunch.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning as desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine frozen hash browns, cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and caramelized onions. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Spread the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-40 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  2. Remove from the oven and sprinkle crispy fried onions on top.
  3. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, add garlic powder or onion powder. You can also use different types of cheese for a variation.
