  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a lighter option.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Sauté with optional bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • to taste salt Season to your preference.
  • to taste pepper Season to your preference.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Any type of roll can be used.
  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese Cheddar or Swiss can also be used.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing the onions.

Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Once the beef is cooked, place the cheese slices on top and cover until the cheese melts.
  5. Toast the hoagie rolls in a separate pan or oven until golden.
  6. Fill each roll with the beef and cheese mixture.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove. For extra flavor, consider adding bell peppers to the onions while they sauté. You can also add extra cheese slices for a cheesier sandwich.
