Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups sushi rice Rinsed thoroughly
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 1 can Spam Sliced into 8 equal pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar For caramelizing Spam
  • to taste sesame oil Optional, for brushing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear, then cook it with 2 1/2 cups of water until fluffy.
  2. While the rice cooks, slice the Spam into 8 equal pieces.
  3. In a pan, combine soy sauce and sugar, then add the Spam slices and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  4. Once the rice is done, let it cool.
Assembly
  1. Place a sheet of nori on a work surface, add a layer of rice, then a slice of Spam, and press down firmly.
  2. Roll the nori tightly around the rice and Spam, sealing the edge with a little water.
  3. Cut into pieces and serve, optionally brushed with sesame oil for added flavor.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. To reheat, use a microwave for a few seconds.
