  • 2 tablespoons butter Unsalted butter recommended
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic preferred
  • 2 cups milk Use any kind of milk, dairy-free option is available
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can substitute with nutritional yeast for a dairy-free version
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to preference
  • Chopped parsley for garnish Optional, for presentation

Method
 

Cooking the pasta
  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the milk and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the pasta and stir.
  5. Cook according to pasta package instructions, stirring occasionally until pasta is cooked al dente.
  6. Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic. Customize by adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms during the last few minutes of cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
