Preparation
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onions if desired and cook until softened.
- Remove from heat and layer the beef, cheddar, and Swiss cheese between slices of bread.
- Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
Cooking
- Toast in a pan over medium heat until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding pickles or jalapeños inside the sandwich. This melt can also be made vegetarian by using sautéed mushrooms or plant-based meat.
