Ingredients
  

For the sandwich
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices Bread (sandwich loaf or rolls)
  • 1 medium Onion (optional) Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For spreading

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onions if desired and cook until softened.
  3. Remove from heat and layer the beef, cheddar, and Swiss cheese between slices of bread.
  4. Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
Cooking
  1. Toast in a pan over medium heat until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  2. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding pickles or jalapeños inside the sandwich. This melt can also be made vegetarian by using sautéed mushrooms or plant-based meat.
